Volvo Ocean Race team Puma Ocean Racing has announced a new agreement with Handheld Group, a supplier of rugged PDAs and handheld computers. Under terms of the sponsorship agreement, Handheld Group will supply Puma Ocean Racing's Mar Mostro yacht with an Algiz 7 tablet to be used for navigation, calculations and communication during the 2011/12 edition of the Volvo Ocean Race which began in Alicante, Spain on 29th October.

"When you're navigating around rocks, marks and more, it's really great to have a device with you on deck," said Puma Ocean Racing navigator Tom Addis. "The Handheld Algiz 7 tablet provides a link to the systems below deck and allows you to have all of the information right at hand. Even the navigator is active, and the Handheld tablet makes work more efficient in all conditions onboard Puma's Mar Mostro."
